“I met Jack Nicholson when I was about 10 at a party of my uncle’s, and it wasn’t so much that I knew his films because I was small, but he wore sunglasses inside at night and I thought that must mean he was very important and was suitably star struck by his charismatic presence.” – Emilia Fox
Sunglasses, The best shape for your face
Most men do not own a vast number of accessories. But there are a few things every men has and needs. One of those items are sunglasses. They are an indispensable part of any men’s wardrobe.
Now, gentlemen, you can fall for all the latest fashion trends and try to be hip but it is best to look for a timeless or classic model that suits the shape of your face best. If you have found those perfect sunglasses, you can be hip and buy another that is the newest trend but first things first. Your essentials that will never let you down. Here are some pointers on how to choose the right one and maybe even make it your signature piece.
Square face shape
Do you have a strong jaw line and wide cheekbones? (be honest to yourself guys, not every man has this quality the ladies like) Choose an Aviator style frame. The wider the jaw, the bigger the glasses, we might say. If your face has these features but a little more delicate, you should stick to a smaller frame but in the same style. Keep the detailing to a minimum and try a rectangular shaped frame if you’re not a fan of the aviator style.
Round face shape
As your face doesn’t have that much definition, see if you can find a pair of glasses that will define it as much as possible. Frames that are slightly wider than your face should do the trick for you. Wayfarers are a great example. They make your cheeks look slimmer and elongate your temples and lengthen the face a little. No round frames and choose an acetate style to define your silhouette.
Long face shape
Having a long shaped face, you should try to avoid frames that elongate your face and features. Round and square frames both will do your shape a favor but do choose a larger style to avoid making your features look small. Glasses in aviator style are a good choice but also the teardrop silhouette that will accentuate your cheek and jaw bones.
Diamond face shape
The best way to go is choosing a retro, rectangular style. Preferably in one colour or very bold colours. This will help to soften your somewhat defined chin and draws attention to the eye area instead of your diamond shaped forehead and wider cheekbones. Do you have a heart face shape? Then the advice written above is also meant for you.
Oval face shape
If your face is has an oval shape, you are in luck! You are fortunate enough to just look for the model you find most modern, beautiful, colourful or anything you can think of. You will rock every style. Do try to avoid large frames and frames with arms that hang too low. This will elongate your face too much.
If you are not sure what type of sunglasses to choose then just go for one of the classics. When it matches your face shape, the wayfarer, aviator style or others are always a good choice.
Circular glasses and geometrical shapes are the hottest thing right now. Either combined with transparent details or colour lenses. If you find all those style items combined a little too much for your taste, then try only one trend.
With light frames and dark glasses you will also be on top of the game.
Coloured lenses and two-tone frames are for the daredevils that are not afraid to be a little edgy.
